브라켓(BRACKET)은 프로젝트렌트 올드타운 2호점에 자리한 카페입니다. 이름은 괄호에서 왔습니다. 괄호 안은 비어 있지만 무엇이든 들어올 수 있다는 뜻으로, 팝업이 바뀔 때마다 성격이 함께 바뀌는 이 공간을 그대로 옮긴 말입니다. ‘AN EMPTY BRACKET FILLED WITH CURATED ( ) AND FLAVORS’라는 문장을 벽면 전체에 크게 나누어 앉혔고, 글자는 시스템 비계와 백라이트 천 패널 위에 얹어 언제든 조립하고 해체할 수 있는 상태로 두었습니다. 바는 긴 직선으로 짜 손님이 나란히 앉도록 했고, 유리 파사드 쪽에는 검은 작업대와 스툴을 두어 길과 매장이 이어지도록 했습니다. 메뉴는 아메리카노와 라떼 같은 기본 음료에 얼그레이 밀크티와 크렘브륄레, 잠봉뵈르와 버터바처럼 오래 앉게 하는 품목을 더해 구성했고, 종이컵과 유산지, 스티커와 입간판까지 같은 그래픽을 적용해 카페 자체가 하나의 콘텐츠로 읽히도록 했습니다.
BRACKET is the café at Project Rent Old Town’s second building. The name comes from the punctuation mark: a bracket is empty, yet anything can be placed inside it — which is exactly what this room does as each pop-up changes around it. The line “AN EMPTY BRACKET FILLED WITH CURATED ( ) AND FLAVORS” is broken up and set large across the walls, the letters carried on system scaffolding and backlit fabric panels so they can be assembled and taken apart at any time. The bar is a single long line that seats guests side by side, while black work tables and stools sit against the glass façade, tying the street to the room. The menu pairs basics such as americano and latte with items that keep people seated — earl grey milk tea, crème brûlée, jambon-beurre, butter bars — and the same graphics run across paper cups, greaseproof paper, stickers and the light box outside, so that the café itself reads as one piece of content.
